ALBUM REVIEWS: Brian Culbertson - "Modern Life"

Review
For those of you who have heard the song "Come To Me", then you probably have heard about smooth jazz keyboardist Brian Culbertson's 1995 Release "Modern Life". This CD contains 11 tracks, including two jazz hits, "Midnight Sun" and "Come to Me". But even so, "Come to Me" would be Brian Culbertson's first single that would make it to the top 10. You may notice when you search Brian Culbertson, you may see tracks at first like "Let's Get Started" or "Skies Wide Open" (collaboration with Avant), from his more recent projects, "It's On Tonight" and "XII". But believe it or not, Brian's best work was from his earlier projects, mostly from the last decade of the 20th century, like Nice & Slow, A Soulful Christmas, and of course, Modern Life. Brian Culbertson's father, Jim Culbertson, is also a keyboardist and composer. But if you haven't heard of Mr. Culbertson, then I would suggest you listen to his projects in a timeline, from his first release, to his most recent release, "XII". I'm not saying listen to all of his CDs in order one by one, i'm saying just listen to his timeline of radio hits, from "Come to Me" to "Midnight Sun" or "I Could Get Used To This" (collaboration with Dave Koz) all the way up to his recent hit, "That's Life". That way you will be able to see how his music changed over the years and help to appreciate his music more than you would if you listened to his compositions in random order. In closing, you should probably listen to his "Bringing Back the Funk" album, which is in my opinion, his second best following "Nice & Slow". There was a track that appreared on one of the Jazziz™ Series of CDs, it's entitled "Always Remember" and follows an urban melody. Brian Culbertson's "Modern Life" is available on Amazon and iTunes, however, if money is tight and you can not afford to pay, songs from the album are on Youtube or you may download the full album here:
